600 ‘Our Ao Dai’ Overflowing with Temple of Literature

On the evening of April 9, more than 600 Ao Dai with diverse designs, trends and colors of 15 Vietnamese and international designers gathered at the cultural space of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi) in the ‘Our Ao Dai’ event.

“Our Ao Dai” is a series of activities taking place at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam these days, including an exhibition on historical periods of Ao Dai. The programs are within the framework of the Vietnam Heritage Ao Dai campaign of the Central Union of Vietnamese Women, in order to honor the value, beauty of traditional longsleeves and beauty of Vietnamese women.

At the 9-4 evening show, more than 600 special long-sleeved designs of 15 Vietnamese and international designers: Hue Thi, Trung Beret, Tran Thanh Man, Cao Duy, Ngoc Han, Tran Thien Khanh, Ha Duy, Trinh Bich Thuy, Cong Huan, Lan Huong, Cao Minh Tien, Thanh Thuy, Phuong Thanh, Chula, Minh Hanh satisfied Vietnamese long-sleeved lovers’ labels.

Although it was raining, the constant applause echoed along with the eyes watching every step of the movement of more than 400 actors on the stage.

The collections are made with traditional Vietnamese materials such as silk and ramie. In particular, ramie is a traditional material that has been forgotten for many years. Therefore, the unique stage background is designed with pots of green thorns and white cocoons as a reminder to the viewer of the traditional materials of the Ao Dai.

With the theme of The World in Vietnamese Ao Dai, the identity of 15 countries became the creative inspiration of designers and was conveyed onto the Ao Dai through the collections.

The public seems to experience a trip around the world with the runway as the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai: the designer Cao Minh Tien chooses the beauty of the French language, designer Phuong Thanh chooses the tulip representing the Netherlands, the collection with the myths of Greece by the designer Trinh Bich Thuy, the designer Ha Duy chooses Japan with deep architecture…

Minh Hanh designer, general director of the show, said: “This is only the first 15 collections in 100 collections inspired by the cultural identity of 100 countries that Vietnamese and international designers will produce this year, to show ” intention ” that Vietnamese Ao Dai are extremely adaptable, even with different cultures and Ao Dai is not only popular in the country which could spread more strongly abroad”
