An Phuoc ramie fiber factory – Viramie is the first factory in Vietnam to produce ramie fiber with a closed production process.

Located in Cam Tu commune, Cam Thuy district, Thanh Hoa City, up to now, An Phuoc – Viramie factory is the first and only factory in Vietnam producing yarn from ramie.

An Phuoc – Viramie ramie production plant is a project to combine farming and processing, linking agriculture with industry with a capacity of 10,000 yarn piles/year, corresponding to 1,700 tons of ramie per year and 1,400 tons of ramie per year.

Since coming into operation in 2020, the factory has contributed to the realization of the chain of production, processing and consumption of products in the mountainous districts in the west of Thanh Hoa province.

It is noteworthy that with the closed model, An Phuoc – Viramie ramie factory can actively source seeds for farmers, followed by technical guidance and consumption of output products. Currently, dry ramie fiber is being completely consumed by the factory at the price of from VND 39,000 – 45,000/kg depending on the grade and quality.

Currently, the factory is producing of products that meet the standards and are quality accredited. In the first quarter of 2021, the plant officially put into operation, reaching 30% of its capacity and expected to operate 100% of its capacity in the fourth quarter of 2021.

According to the factory representative, An Phuoc – Viramie will aim for high quality product lines oriented to the market segment from the middle level upwards. It focuses on European, Japanese, American, Chinese and domestic exports.

In particular, An Phuoc – Viramie Group is protected by the exclusive ownership of AP1 Green Gai variety by experts selected by the Institute of Breeding Genetics with high productivity and superior fiber quality for high – end products.

Currently, ramie has the advantage that natural textile materials are safe for consumers’ health based on the development of raw material regions with competitive advantages in production value in the agricultural sector. Ramie has a growing trend in global demand due to the superiority of characteristics and market segmentation for mid- to high-end product lines.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has native ramie, which should have an advantage in the natural conditions for cultivating ramie along with an effort to apply science and technology to cultivate high – quality ramie materials. An Phuoc Group – Viramie also hopes that ramie weaving will develop based on Vietnam’s traditional textile industry.
